Winter Storm Warning

Freezing rain will be the main mode of precipitation through the day today. Current thinking is that the freezing rain will continue through 6-7pm, before slackening up some. Ice accretions through this first batch look to be between 0.10-0.20 inches, although amounts up to 0.25 inches will be possible depending on how far south the heavier bands slip. Relatively dry conditions are anticipated between 7pm and 1am, although with moisture still in the area there will be a threat for freezing drizzle. An additional 0.05 inches of ice accretion will be possible through that. Freezing rain will again pick up in earnest after 2-3am Wednesday morning, but that will flip over to rain by 11am. This burst of freezing rain may put down between 0.25-0.50 inches, but those amounts may vary depending on how much warm air is able to wrap in between 7-10am. Plain rain is anticipated after 10am and will continue through 5pm before tapering off. Winds will be on the breezy side Wednesday morning, with gusts to 25 mph possible.
